Originally from a photographic background, London based DOP James has an amazing eye for framing, strong motivated light and juxtaposing naturalistic formal composition with esoteric ones. Influences he draws on include large format photography, hand printing, old American road photographers, Le Ballon Rouge, and philosopher Jean Baudrillard. He is drawn to ‘any art that goes past what is expected and reveals something new to you’, and likens his craft to composing music in terms of the process and what it evokes. He prioritises collaboration as key, no pretension and a shared passion for making something new. His recent clients include an ongoing relationship with Toast, and collaborations with Tekla, Ffern, Rosewood Hotels, Vogue and Hermes.
